# Opportunities

> Ranked content opportunities, each with real search volume and a ready-to-write brief.

The other SEO pages give you raw numbers. **Opportunities** does the analysis: it studies your search landscape, your competitors, and what AI assistants say when asked about your space, then hands you a ranked list of things worth writing — each with a brief you can generate from directly.

## Why AEO Matters

Search isn't only Google any more. When someone asks ChatGPT or Google's AI which tools to use, something gets cited — and it may not be you. Opportunities checks those answers too, and the **AI Cited** column shows how often your domain appears in them.

That's the "AEO" half of SEO & AEO: answer engine optimization. A topic where competitors are cited and you aren't is a concrete gap.

## Setting Up

The first time you open the page, click **Set Up Research**. Research is organized into **projects**, each targeting one [ICP](/engage/content-engine/icp) or domain plus the competitors you want compared against.

Use **New Project** to research a different ICP or domain in its own project. Once you have more than one, a **Project** dropdown appears, including an **All Projects** view.

## Running Research

Click **Run Research**. It works through several phases — analyzing search results, checking AI assistant answers, gathering keyword volumes, comparing domain authority, and scoring opportunities.

It usually takes a few minutes and you can leave the page while it runs.

You can only run research on a single project at a time, so pick one from the dropdown if you're in **All Projects** view. The per-run credit cost is shown on the button before you commit.

## Reading the Results

| Column | What it tells you |
| --------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| **Opportunity** | The topic |
| **Status** | New, Generated, or Dismissed |
| **Type** | What kind of content it calls for |
| **Intent** | What the searcher is trying to do |
| **Stage** | Which funnel stage it fits |
| **Volume/mo** | Monthly search demand |
| **Score** | How worthwhile it is, all factors considered |
| **AI Cited** | How often you're cited in AI answers for it |

Click any row to open the opportunity in full, including its brief.

Filter by **Status** to separate what's **New** from what you've already **Generated** or **Dismissed**. Dismissing the ones you'll never write keeps the list honest.

## Turning an Opportunity into Content

Open an opportunity and generate from its brief. The draft lands in [Content](/engage/content-engine/content), where you review, edit, and publish it like anything else — using your [brand voice](/engage/content-engine/brand-voice) and [strategy](/engage/content-engine/content-strategy) if you've set them.

## Tips

1. **Trust Score over Volume.** A high-volume topic you can't compete for is not an opportunity.
2. **Look for the citation gaps.** Topics where competitors are cited by AI and you aren't are the clearest openings.
3. **Dismiss aggressively.** A list you've curated is one you'll use; an untouched list of 200 isn't.
4. **Re-run periodically, not constantly.** The landscape moves over months, not days — and each run costs credits.
